I would agree, but the examples you provide are related to the well being of a society, related to laws and norms. The way FB and Instagram create stories, micro-interactions, whatever buttons are not critical to our well being, or at least shouldn't be.
My problem is that when we take something that is already a commodity and we combine it with the idea of stripping out any effort of innovation for the sake of adoption, we end up with boring repetitive apps and managers who will always ask to copy the competition.
If we are creating something that's really not needed for to this extent, let's at least make it interesting right ?
